I read my notebook while suffering from insomnia and happened to read an interesting summary. I wrote it like in April this year. Thank you for the one who lent it to me. Having read the book, I feel like my mind was opened as wide as it could be. :p It reminds me of my true self, answers some questions in my mind, yet leads to another questions. :p Well, this might be a good goodbye note, since I decided to quit my bad addiction on facebook. Seriously, I need to get a life. -_- But I'll be back for sure. :) Just not as often as I used to. I realized too late that internet hurts my brain and hand. :p Well, here it is.
(I am going to separate the "lessons learned" in points, because that was the way I learned from the book. and sorry if it's waaaaaaaaay too long. :p )
1. When telling something to someone else, there are three things we should consider. First, whether or not, the news is right. Second, whether or not the news is good, and the last is whether or not it's meaningful to the listener (Socrates). Seeing my writing, I did try to "follow these rules" but I still think that I failed. LOL. Because sometimes, I might say something which is full of doubt to be proven. Sometimes I say things just to make myself feel better. And less care about other people's opinion and feeling just for the sake of honesty. That is the difficult part. I feel like the word "honesty" is directly carved in my veins and sometimes I just say something out of my control. -_-
2. Not to think that someone or something is annoying. Well, this is quite hard to do. Because I have a list, even if it's just probably less than five, of people I "hate" at the first sight and I just can't help it. Someday God will show me the way to erase my list so that it becomes a blank white paper. Amitabha. :p Well, the other way around, for those who think that I am annoying because I am too honest, rude, or noisy, or anything, herewith I deliver my deep and sincere apology. :) Please forgive me.
3. To know but not to do is not yet to know. I can't believe I still remember the pillars of Education I learned in the university. :p Learn to know, Learn to do, Learn to be, Learn to live together, and Learn to live sustainably. As what Bruce Lee said, knowing is not enough, we must apply. willing is not enough, we must do. To put it simply, if we know that smoking is bad for our health but we still smoke, it means that we do not learn. In short, we're stupid. In love, I am. or I was. whatever. forget about it. So, the other things are, when we learn something, we should be open minded. not ofen or oven, because out brain cannot bake cookies. :p By then we can absorb everything and be more objective. Moreover, we also have to lower ourselves than the source. never think that we are smarter or more intelligent or more experienced. it's just a matter of "malunan ken durinan" actually. :p
4. Be the change. We cannot ask someone to do things we don't do. So if you ask someone to be patient, while the other time you keep complaining on how other people cannot come on time, that's just a bullshit coming out of your mouth, baby. Maybe you're more familiar with "talk less do more", that's quite similar I think.
5. Make a positive program in your head. If you love yourself, don't get mad at people. It hurts your ownself. Especially if that other person doesn't even think that you are still angry. It's better to just forgive and forget. Forget is the best, and please just don't trust that person anymore. :p
6. People were born in different time, different place, different situation. There are men, women, or in betweens. :p Therefore, everyone is different. Just let them be. Let them think and do things their own way. They'll get their own carma anyway. So it's absolutely not our capacity to mess up with other people's business.*am I using the correct word? seriously? capacity? I think I might have been infected by vickinisasi virus -_-
7. Sort and filter the information coming to you. Well, for a person who is easily influenced by things I see and I heard, this is hard to do. So very often, things around me change my "beautiful" mindset and make me lose my track. Maybe I have to try to close my eyes and my ears. How to do it? Sleep more. :p
8. Listen more. For quite sometimes, I can see that myself is one of a good listener. I can be quiet listening to other people's story. But the more important think is actually "listen". Sit there and do not think to comment or anything. Let your brain just have a break for a while. :)
9. Live for the present. Too many times I find myself clinging on the past and worrying too much about the future meanwhile we're living like now. in the present. We don't even know if the very next day, even the next minute, we're just dead. God just wants to call us. Come here, sunshine. :p and that's it. So I prefer not regreting to do so to worrying what might happen next. :)
10. I "finally" remember my dreams and passions. Do things that make you still happy eventhough you're not paid enough. Or as Gordie Howe said,"if you don't love your job, quit and give chances for those who love it". Teaching. Debating. Drawing. I suddenly remember that Agung once asked me, "Are you paid for coaching,Her?" I said I don't know and she answered "Oh well, you're doing something you love, anyway." :) Find your passions because you will live with them for the rest of your lives. :)
11. Sometimes you need to stop asking question and just do it. Come on, life is now. God will give you the answer when you least expect it. And on that beautiful time, you will just realize how everything finally makes a perfect sense. just. like. that.
12. Life never demands you to be something. We are the one demanding ourselves because we have dreams. There are times that all we need to do is just sit for a while and enjoy life, for there are so many beautiful things happen, and we just don't see them because we're busy racing. However, there is another dark side in my mind reminding me that I don't live alone. Sometimes we are dragged by the "society's" expectation and might lose ourselves in the meantime. But at the end, you should decide which thing makes you happiest because it's you who live your life. choices man, can never be avoided. :p
13. Focus on the beauty of everything. No matter how bad the things that happen to you, there will always be a wisdom that follows. Lesson learned. :p Like when I failed to get a perfect GPA during my university time, I realize that number is not everything. It's not what's written on the certificate that matters, but what's on your head and heart. And most importantly, do the best thing you can do with your head. Share your knowledge. :) That's why I want to be a teacher. :p
14. There's nothing such a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. Everything happens because God wants it to happen, but sometimes also because we want it. :) I then remember a saying in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, "the one who wrote this story was God, not you. So even if you want to end this story, it won't, unless God desires." :) woohooo, enough to give me goosebumps.
15. Your faith limits you. Everyone will agree, that our mind has power. Therefore, be careful with your thoughts. Be careful of what you believe in. Because what you think is true, might be true, but what you think is not true, might also be true. LOL. Confused? me too. :p It's up to you.
16. There's nothing such absolute right or wrong in this world. I have watched "I can Hear Your Voice", and I learned that truth can be flipped just by a matter of point of views. Like the old guys who "stole" thousands of free newspapers. This guy was prosecuted by the company for taking a big pile of "free newspaper". We might say that he's a criminal for taking those big number of newspaper even if they're actually free. See the number of the newspapers he took. But if we see from the other viewpoint, he did it for a living. Nobody still reads newspaper on train and leave it inside the train for this old guy to pick after they finish. They prefer reading news from their smartphone or tablets. So there was not used newspaper anymore. While he needs to eat. That's why then this guy took the "fresh" newspaper. So, what do you think then? Everyone has their own reasons to do things. You can blame them somehow, just don't hate them for their decision. :)
17. God is fair. Yes. That is the reason why nobody is perfect. Because God spreads those elements of "luck" to everyone. If then someone happens to completely be unlucky, that is another story. Please reread point number 14. :p
18. Focus on giving. It's better to give more than take more because the more we give, the more we will take. that's the way it works. What you plant will be what you grow and those will be the fruits that you will harvest one day. Let's plant many good deeds. :D
Well, that's all. Please leave a comment. :)
